What is Trichotillomania?

Trichotillomania is a form of OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) that involves strong urges to pull hair out from the root.  This includes pulling of scalp hair, facial hair or hair on other parts of the body. This is a fairly rare condition.

Who Suffers from Trichotillomania?

Statistics show that it affect girls and guys.  1% - 3% of the population suffer from Trichotillomania.  However, new research shows that the rate may be 10% or higher.  Trichotillomania is normally developed during adolescence. But it can start was young as 1 year of age.
